CCZT Newsletter – May 2017

Dear Prayer Partners and Supporters,

Again we have enough news to share with you!

If you would stay with us in the bush at this period, you would hear every day the ox carts or even the Farm truck going up and down between our Farm and the fields. It is harvest time. The sunflower seeds and beans are stored already, the soya beans are harvested and at the moment the people are busy with getting the maize/corn in. We are thankful for the abundancy that God has provided!

We are also thankful that the Lord took care of Enoch (9), the youngest son of our Farm Manager, who recovered from severe malaria last week. And please pray for Peggy (3), the granddaughter from our Cook, Nelson Banda, who was admitted in the clinic this week with the same illness.

On behalf of the College we can share that the outward reconstruction of the kitchen has now been completed. However the inside refurbishment still needs to be done. Just look at the differences below!

The students are currently on their mid-term break. That doesn’t mean a break for the Principal… he is very busy with scheduling the lessons for the next term, the accounts and other admin duties.

The administrator, Mex Mbewe, is no longer working for Covenant College and so he ceases to represent the institution in any capacity. Please take this as an official notification.

We are expecting the students to return on the 10th of July Lord willing meanwhile the recruitment exercise is still going on. So far 10 new students have confirmed joining us on the 10th of July when the college reopens for the second semester.  This will bring the total number of students to 23. But the recruitment exercise is ongoing and therefore the number is bound to change.

For the Christian Education Ministry last week the schools started the second term. It will be a busy time for Musonda and his team of trainers, because we welcomed 7 new schools in the program! The number of schools has now reached 51 and that makes us very thankful. Imagine how many children will hear the gospel on a daily basis!!

We are also thankful for the growing interest in the concept of Christian Education. Our dear sister Marjanne has been invited to teach next week at a conference for teachers from Musonda Community School in Kitwe, the Copperbelt Province. She has also been invited to train Sunday school teachers from the Chapel churches in Kitwe. On her way to the Copperbelt she will also have a meeting in Chongwe with the Woo family, who visited us last month, and their friends, a couple who planted a Free Methodist Church in the rural area near Chongwe and who want to know what is possible in terms of Christian Education for their area.

When you read our update, we hope you will see how you can join hands with us to thank the Lord for His blessings and to pray for all what is needed for us in serving God in His Kingdom.

We thank you for partnering with us! For more information you can also check our Covenant College Zambia Facebook page or contact us direct (covenantcollegezambia@gmail.com or sakalaemmauel@gmail.com)
